Let me start this by saying that I've been taken a bit by the audio format opus, so I am experimenting a bit here. A 128kbps rip is usually lamented, but in this format it still achieves clarity in the abyss. I dunno. It's a cassette rip, there's not much expected other than to provide it.On to the music of which the container holds: it's half-and-half. Noiseheads will appreciate the A-side more than I do (I think), a live performance producing sounds that remind me of a trainyard (not dissimilar to the Kakophonia tape, though I feel that one has more punch to it). The B-side I really like, a whole 40 minutes of xylophones and vibraphones being improvised upon. The tinkly quality levels out the more aggressive aspect of its doppelganger power electronik on the other side of the strip.

Thank you so much for posting this. This band was from CT, and I have been trying for years to find out more about them. Had no idea this tape existed. I have a cdr somewhere of a later release. They became more of a grindcore band towards the end, whenever that was. If anyone has any further info or music please share!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, and yes info on this project is very scarce... Could only really gather a handful of resources that mention them, and one of those was Discogs. Overall, a successful eBay chance.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind sharing that CDr I would love to lay my ears on it, and maybe share later here with credit.
This is the cdr that I have, apologies that I am unable to scan, but the cdr is just a cover featuring a row of skeletons and no titles, credits, anything! If i remember correctly, I got it at a show that they played where I arrived too late to see them. Cripple Bastards/Strong Intention/Pac Men/ HBBSI in newtown, CT 2001 or 2002, can't recall. The cdrs may have even been handed out for free! Though there are certainly several grind and noise groups in Connecticut nowadays, that was certainly not the case 20 years ago which is why I am very interested in these local pioneers- unknown and anonymous as they are!

I really appreciate it! Hopefully someone sheds some more light on this interesting project, aside from what is already known... Who knows?
