Another older number from my collection, relatively speaking due to this blog being somewhat of a "collector's diary" so to speak. Relistening to this now, I find myself thinking that I may have initially underrated this single sided behemoth of brevity. There's a lot of cool stuff going on for a whole 25 or so minutes made up of cut up collages containing disparate performances laced with acid and submerged in noisy entropy. Though I am phoning this one in somewhat, having realized they actually have this up at their Bandcamp...... So, if you like what you hear, I'd imagine the logical course of action would be to lay down 5 bones for a much clearer version. I mean, that's what I would do. Florida is the reason, after all.

IS - IS

It's a real shame I can't really give cool anecdotes on these interesting recordings I find and post here, like all those other respectable illegal filesharing joints. Most of the time, I just find wreckords at a local shop and take em home with little in the way of an obstacle. Quite boring. Maybe I should start writing fictitious proseworks to spice things up. Anyway, what IS this? IS is IS, an improvisational grouping centering around Chris Johanson and his merry group of friends, as seen in this insert:

A bit voyeuristic, an email conversation between the culprits of this work of freefolk ambiance. As I had found later, some of these cats are pretty big luminaries in the once big(?) free impro-folk scene, lotsa Jackie-O Mothereffer alumni. It's nice, an exercise in a now seemingly bygone style in two sides which probably made for a good soundtrack for the exhibition it was created for. Now that I am thinking for the first time in awhile, I never really thought to check which side is which as this information is obfuscated by the fact that each side is marked by a colored label instead of the traditional text laden generic... I suppose it doesn't matter, unless someone is very serious about the archival of late oughts indie-pain-dance in plasticity.

Zuppa Di Pesce - Cicoria / Zucchinie Trifolate

Here's a recent item from my own collection. Itoken is a rather prolific musician in the Japanese vanguard, codifying the sounds of some great groups like Harpy and Win A Sheep Free. This project is not so different from those of his past, keeping the avant-garde inclinations and nostalgic enterprises into children's music, only this time it's aiming for a cuisine-themed concept with a brass sidedish. Enban seems to be an obscure little epicentre of the Japanese style of Avant-pop that has sprung about the turn of the century or so, hosting the aforementioned Itoken and the likes of Jon.

As mentioned above, this is a food centered little slab. The titles of both tracks reference Italian dishes and even includes a nice little Italian excursion which probably talks about the foods if I knew a lick of it (see above). They actually have a CD out with the same concept, if anyone has it and is willing to share I'm all ears.
